Research and Lobbying
Our work for Oeneo Bouchage and its technical closures has required us to establish close relationships throughout the industry and to facilitate debate, partnership and trial processes with retailers and agents. We brought the facts to the surface, and let them do the talking.

Over a period of six years, CUBE has initiated and implemented
careful trade lobbying for Oeneo Bouchage (formerly known as Sabaté ) backed-up by meticulous, inclusive research to help the wine trade navigate the emotive subject of closures.

The original Sabaté trial remains the largest and most comprehensive
research project involving chemical analysis of wine samples ever
undertaken. Overseen by impartial trade experts - comprising MWs,
supermarket buyers, technicians and journalists - the results acted as
a watershed in proving different wines need different closure solutions.

Result

  • Oeneo’s closures are now accepted by all major UK multiple grocers and the top multiple specialist wine retailers (previously none accepted them)
  • Several of these retailers have amended their closure policy to say that their preferred cork-based closure is DIAM.
  • Oeneo is currently recruiting, through DIAM, 100 new customers per month – which is largely attributable to the now established acceptance of DIAM in the UK market.
